Research Ecosystem at SMEF’s Brick School of Architecture

SMEF’s Brick School of Architecture fosters a dynamic research ecosystem that integrates academic inquiry, professional exposure, and community engagement. The Institute promotes a culture of critical thinking through research-driven studios, funded projects, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Faculty and students actively engage in research supported by prestigious grants such as ASPIRE, SHRAMA, UDITA, Travel Xtreame G2, SMEF’s Travel Research grants and institutional scholarships, encouraging exploration in sustainability, heritage, inclusive design, and emerging architectural practices.

Hands-on learning is strengthened through the C Cube initiative, where students and faculty collaborate on live community-based projects, linking classroom learning to real-world challenges. The Institute hosts national and international platforms, including the Blurred Boundaries conference and Research Jatra, to share knowledge and nurture scholarly writing.

With strong industry partnerships, MoUs, and participation in competitions like Solar Decathlon and IGBC, the Institute’s research ecosystem promotes innovation, professional readiness, and socially responsible design, reinforcing its commitment to shaping future-ready architects.
