Financial Scholarships for Deserving Students
At SMEF’s Brick Group of Institutes, we believe that financial challenges should never come in the way of talent and ambition. Many aspiring architects and designers face economic hurdles while pursuing their education, and this scholarship aims to bridge that gap.
The Satish Misal Education Foundation Scholarship supports bright and deserving students who demonstrate exceptional spirit and perseverance in the field of architecture. Each recipient receives ₹50,000 per year to help them continue their academic journey with focus and dignity.

So many students with an aptitude for architecture find it difficult, or sometimes impossible to take admission in architecture and sustain the expenses. Scholarships are being given to such bright students who overcome great financial difficulties to keep alive his/her never-dying spirit in architecture.

S.M.E.F. Travel Grant
SMEF’s Research & Travel Grant of rs. 15000/- each is proposed every year for students of SMEF’s Brick Group of Institutes to explore & support the field of architectural research and travelling to unexplored places in India. It covers expenses incurred by the students during their travel and documentation. Awarded for over ten years, this grant has supported more than 25 students individually or in groups of up to three
Aim of S.M.E.F. The travel grant program is to assist students to travel across the country experiencing and documenting architecture, people and places. The intention is to promote students to study while travelling and contemplation while observing, reading, writing, or sketching.

S.M.E.F. Travel Grant
Architecture is learned beyond studios, through travel, observation, and experience.
The S.M.E.F. Travel Grant Program encourages students to explore the diverse architectural and cultural landscapes of India to study, document, and reflect.
AIM
To assist Brick students in travelling across the country to experience architecture, people, and places firsthand.
Objectives:
- To experience architecture, landscapes, and cultures directly.
- To nurture independent observation and reflection.
- To contribute to the in-house Brick Archive through documentation.
- To support professional and personal growth.
Defining conditions:
Grant Amount: ₹15,000 (disbursed in 3 instalments)
Eligibility: Open to students from any year of the Architecture or Research-Driven Interior Design programs. Individual or group (max. 3 members) applications are accepted.
Application Timeline: June to August each year, with results announced on Founder’s Day (22nd August).
Recipients are required to maintain a travel blog, document their journey through drawings, photographs, and notes, and submit a final compiled report for the Brick Archive.
Reporting Requirements:
The S.M.E.F travel grant recipient will be expected to keep an online journal during his travel days by posting to a Blog. The blog posts will document the recipient’s travels in text and images, including photographs, video, drawings, or other media. This record will be used by the S.M.E.F Travel Grant Jury Panel to approve payment distribution.
The recipient will submit the following as a final output his travels and documentation.
- A compiled report of the travel and documentation work done for the Brick Archive.
- Set of drawings and photographs which were not compiled in the report
- A summary of 1000 words stating how the travel grant and the process contributed in changing his perception and understanding of built environments and culture. How the study will influence their future works.
Intellectual rights:
Intellectual Property Rights of all work will be with the recipient, however if the work is to be published in form of an article, research paper in any media, the recipient should acknowledge S.M.E.F Grant support in all published media. Also, S.M.E.F has the right to publish the submitted work in any form , or use the work for further research and teaching, giving due credit to the author.
S.M.E.F. Research Grant
Aim of S.M.E.F’s Research grant program is to inculcate the research attitude among students. To promote originality in architectural research projects to encourage creativity as well intellectual and professional growth of students. It’s a larger platform to enhance research in architecture as an important field at national and international level.
SPPU ASPIRE Research Grant (Faculty)
Ar. Jayalaxmi Deshmukh and Ar. Anurakti Yadav faculties from BRICK have been awarded the prestigious ASPIRE grant, supporting impactful research and academic innovation. This grant enhances faculty-led inquiry and contributes to the institute’s expanding research ecosystem.

S.M.E.F. Research Grant
The S.M.E.F. Research Grant is designed to foster a spirit of inquiry and innovation among students. It supports independent research that contributes to the understanding, teaching, and practice of architecture.
Aim:
To encourage advanced study and research in architecture and allied fields.
Objectives:
- To develop a research mindset at the undergraduate level.
- To explore topics that expand the boundaries of architectural knowledge.
- To publish and share findings that enrich the discipline.
Grant Amount: ₹15,000 (disbursed in 3 instalments)
Eligibility: Students of Architecture and Research-Driven Interior Design (max. 2 per group).
Focus Areas: Architectural theory, design, history, engineering, landscape, urban studies, fine arts, and humanities that inform architecture.
Evaluation Criteria:
Originality (3 points) | Impact (4 points) | Feasibility (2 points) | Capability (1 point)
Like the travel grant, recipients are required to document their process, submit a compiled report, and share insights on how the research influenced their understanding of architecture.
Announcement: Declared annually on Founder’s Day (22nd August).
